Research appears as a required academic skill in in grade levels and in multiple core content area standards. California state standards require student to use research skills in English Language Arts, Next Generation Science Standards, and in the new Social Science History Standards. However, after over a decade of NCLB very few teachers were ever trained on how to teach research skills in the context of the digital resource available and their relevance to each content area. The current state of how we teach student to research is by saying "Go research that!" We can do better!
