A thinker, philosopher, debater, and educator interested in helping to develop 21st century thinkers best describes Lisa Highfill, a 20 year 5th grade teacher in Pleasanton, Ca. She has a passion for innovative learning strategies and actively works to share and collaborate with teachers, parents, and community members in order to improve the quality of education. Currently working in Pleasanton Unified's newly launched virtual academy, Lisa coordinates staff, students, and parents to create a hybrid, project based learning experience.

Lisa has spent the past sixteen years as a district mentor and staff developer for technology after completing her masters in Ed Tech leadership. Her specialty is combining reader and writer’s workshop with authentic integration of 21st century learning models and technology. Currently she is the k-12 Instructional Technology Coach for Pleasanton Unified School district focusing on blended learning and digital lesson design.

She has presented and keynoted a wide variety of conferences including: the California Reading Association conference, CUE, MAC World, the Merit program, The Google Teacher Academy, EdTechTeam Google summits, ISTE, and workshops around the globe, sharing ideas to improve the way kids experience learning. Lisa is a Google Certified Teacher and a part of the inaugural group of YouTube Star Teachers.

In 2015 Lisa co-authored and created the HyperDoc Handbook, designed to help educators integrate technology authentically into their curriculum. The book focuses on digital lesson design, blended learning, and strong instructional pedagogy.

In April 2020, we released our new online academy at HyperDocs.co designed to bring quality PD around designing digital lessons to anyone anywhere.
